    im one of the few who likes the armor and health reworks... the game is about resource management, speed, and efficiency now. payday 2 was more about endurance and sheer survivability. overkill weapons are also pretty neat, as they imply we wont have any ridiculous powercreep like payday 2 had. i really dont want a 5.7x28mm that somehow pierces steel plate shields again. i heard the lmg is going to be a normal primary which i cant say im excited for. i just hope its not a .308, since that should definitely be an overkill weapon. ammo funnel does feel overused and overpowered. it was likely added because the devs felt obligated to add something similar to bulletstorm. i personally dont use it unless im running a shotgun or sniper build (they recently buffed the remington 700) because it conflicts with the scrounger skill (10% chance to retrieve a throwable from an ammo pickup) which only triggers when reserve ammo is replenished, not the magazine. this is important because i use overcooked (grenades explode on contact) with flashbangs to be able to run wherever and revive teammates. the weapon balancing is already pretty bad, though. armor penetration is a hidden stat for whatever reason, even though its essential for headshots to one-hit. the game doesnt tell you that cops have armor at all, which makes the problem worse. theres little incentive to use anything other than the m1a or the scar-h with either of the revolvers as theyre the only guns that one hit on headshots. if you ask me, just let us swap ammo types for our guns, like cartridge conversions, and give us options to extend barrels for more armor penetration as well. the uzi and mpx would make more sense if i could just put rifle length barrels on them. i dont think the game is terrible, it just feels like the foundation of a good co-op shooter and nothing else.

    how to fix armour without replacing the armor system is, make trading swat hostages or securtiy gaurds give the same armour bags droped by the ai or make it random when you trade a civilian you get 1 armour plate, 1 health pack, or 1 armor pack like in the camera room lockers. it would give payday 3 that rng charm its missing compared to the previous payday games, and health should heal all of you current health at the time of consuming the health kit so it slowly regens put you cant out heal the damage, either make it default or give the medic tree a purpose cause its is on of the worst skill trees along with strategist and CQC specialist.

    I like the armor changes too but I'd like to have the first armor tier as a recall to the first games as in, you can get it regen to 100% as long as it doesn't break so it's a little more viable in Overkill. Since it's the easiest to break, an armor bag would still be necessary, maybe bringing the downs to 3 if that mechanic gets added for the 1 chunk armor so we have both the modern Payday 3 armor and classic Payday armor mechanics. About the cloaker downing you if you're the last, that's something good in my opinion, makes them more of a threat, kind of reminds me of the L4D Hunter.

      Personally I think they were unnecessary bloat, pretty much the only viable options were the ones that had electric or poison stun. Only using the weapons as melee as in the first game was fine.

    Fun fact! The cover up skill in the CQC specialist tree allows you to kill the head guard and permanently silence his pager if he is killed with a takedown. I REALLY hope this isnt a bug because the skill is effectively useless otherwise. You dont kill guards unless you need to, and if you're grabbing them for a takedown you're probably moving them to answer the radio, THEN kill them. If it's intended it's a good use of a skill to allow for skill expression since it lets you decide whether or not you want to get rid of the head guard early at the cost of a pager, and on some maps killing him is pretty unnecessary.

    an idea i had was what if we make a dual system out of armor and health? After your first armor chunk breaks now your health goes down until it reaches the same depth as your next armor chunk, than again its armor till it breaks and so on and so on. This wouldmean that if you are on low hp but have full armor your armor would still be melted but now first aid kits actually have a bigger use than recovering from naders

    Hey, I just wanted to touch on your weapon segment. Armor penetration doesn't affect bullet penetration, it's just straight up a hidden stat on every weapon that dictates how much damage dealt to armor is also dealt to health. It's not mentioned anywhere in the game outside of Cutting Shot, which is the only way to improve it by 0.1. That's not 10%, that's just straight up 0.1 added to your weapon's armor penetration stat, whatever that is. I made a post on the Payday subreddit (i know, ledditors xdxd) about a month ago (so a little under 2 weeks before this video was made) that basically broke down Armor Penetration as a stat, how it affects your weapon versus cops, and how weapon balance completely warps around it. You can find it by searching "Armor Penetration" on the sub and it'll be the top result, probably, but here's the gist of it: 1. AP doesn't make it so part of your damage is health damage and part is armor damage, AP works by dealing full damage to armor, as well as taking a percentage of that damage based off of AP and duplicating it to deal health damage. So an SA A144 bodyshot deals 50 damage at base to armor, on top of dealing 40 damage directly to health as that's what the default armor penetration of the SA A144 allows. 2. Damage to Armor does not benefit from headshot multipliers. Shooting someone in the body is no different to shooting someone in the head if you are using a 0 AP weapon (Zip Commando or any of the pistols). However, damage dealt to health from AP does benefit from headshot multipliers. From the previous example, if I shot a cop in the head, it would instead deal 200 health damage because the SA A144 has a 5x headshot multiplier (Which is another stat that's also hidden, and heavily affected by range, which is what Long Shot skill actually affects.) 3. Most enemies have armor, but they also have a hidden Armor Hardness stat. Armor Hardness as a stat basically just reduces your AP by that amount, and for most enemies that is 1.5. The actual caluclation is Enemy Armor Hardness - Weapon Armor Penetration = Direct Health Damage Reduction, but every enemy either has 0 armor in the first place (Snipers, Cloakers) or has 1.5 Armor Hardness (Light/Heavy Swat, Zappers, Naders). Only Shields and Bulldozers have a higher Armor Hardness at 2 and 4 respectively, but that just means you magdump shields more likely, and bulldozers are nearly impenetrable to bodyshots outside of the Red Fox overkill weapon, which 2-shots them to the body. 4. Enemies have Armorgating as well. This is seen most prominently on the SP Model 11, which has 80 base damage, but a 0.5 AP value. When you take into consideration most enemies have a 1.5 armor hardness, that generally translates to a -0.5 AP penalty to every weapon, so the Model 11 has functionally 0 AP. A Heavy swat has 170 armor. Shoot a Heavy Swat twice with the Model 11 for 160 damage, and they will have 10 armor left. Shoot them a third time, and they will only take 10 damage, and the other 70 damage is lost. All this results in the fact that every single player weapon lives and dies by their Armor Penetration stat. The current weapon meta is completely dictated by if a weapon can deal enough damage (150 for most enemies) directly to health through Armor Penetration, only followed by the Headshot Multiplier and Base Damage of a weapon. The Model 11 deals 25% more damage than the Bison, and it has a standard 5x headshot multiplier versus the 3x of all revolvers, yet it's almost entirely worse in actual practice because the Bison has very good AP, while the Model 11 has functionally none. Similarly, the Compact-7 has the lowest damage in the game at 24, whereas the PC9 has 35% more damage at 32.5. However, the Compact-7 deals more than double the damage of the PC9 in practice because the Armor Penetration on Compact-7 is very good at 1.25 (dealing 75% of it's damage to health), whereas the PC9 has poor AP at 0.75 (dealing only 25% of it's damage to health) The most powerful weapons in the game are the SA A144, VF-7S, Bison, and Castigos precisely because they have high AP, and either high base damage or headshot multiplier. The AK and Car-4 both are capable of doing enough damage to 2-tap enemies while still being controllable automatic, so they're only minorly worse than the above, but still very servicable. The Mosconi just has very high base damage even with 0 AP, because each pellet counts as a different damage source and thus can circumvent armor gating provided you hit your pellets and deal enough damage. Every other gun runs into major problems with hitting the trifecta of AP, Headshot multiplier, and Base Damage without some significant downside otherwise. The 880 has half the damage of the Mosconi (25 dmg per pellet vs 50, 7 pellets total for both), and can never one-shot a heavy swat unless you are running Edge + Face to Face and are straight up crowning the Swat with all 7 pellets, when the Mosconi theoretically only needs to hit half its pellets to kill the same enemy. The Bolt action sniper can hit the trifecta, but it has an absurdly low fire rate of 50 RPM, which only gets worse when you consider that you have to unscope to chamber the next bullet and rescope, basically cutting your fire rate in half even with Speed Aim skills. The B-9 has lower damage AND AP than the Car-4, and is nearly identical otherwise, so there's no reason to take it over the Car-4 since you'd be running the same skills (Cutting Shot) with both weapons, just Car-4 doesn't take as many bullets to kill. All of the pistols are not good in comparison to revolvers, because SP Model 11 has functionally 0 AP, whereas the other pistols literally have 0 AP. The Sig 40 and Sig 403 feel identical because they are nearly identical, and basically are only different in 3 stats (magazine, damage falloff, RPM). The Stryk is just the defacto best pistol in the game simply on the basis of the minor damage penalty (44 vs 50 of both Sigs) is completely negligible outside of one specific circumstance (Full health Heavy Swat with Edge + Face to Face lets the Sigs take 4 bullets vs the Stryk always taking 5, but that's such a minor scenario with Face to Face, which is such a niche skill that doesn't positively affect any good weapon barring maybe the 880). The Stryk has the best RPM, the best ammo pickup, and the best magazine size of all the pistols, which is the best of a bad scenario of being a 0 AP pistol, and your only option is to spam to get kills. The Model 11 simply fires too slow, has too much recoil, and has too much of an emphasis on hitting your shots for what is a spam class of weapon, when with the Stryk it won't matter if you miss a shot because you get so much bullets for it and can easily just fire again. You said that SMGs should stay primaries and shouldn't be secondaries. I refute this by the fact that SMGs are crippled in Payday 3, already having a performance of a secondary in the primary slot. It's not a stretch to say that SMGs are currently the worst weapon class in the game. Every other gun has a 5x multiplier to the head, barring Revolvers and the Bolt-Action which have a 3x multiplier to the head. All SMGs have a 2x multiplier. On top of that, they also have some of the lowest base damage in the game, the highest sitting at 32.5 with the PC9, and the lowest at 24 with the Compact-7. For reference, a single Reinfeld 880 pellet does 25 damage. Even more, only the Compact-7 has an actually good AP value, at 1.25, whereas the PC9 has a very low AP value of 0.75, while the Zip Commando is the only non-shotgun primary to have actually 0 AP. The Zip Commando on average takes 9 bullets to kill a Heavy Swat, assuming all bullets hit and you hit headshots. Between enemy flinch and the 1100 RPM, you will miss, or hit bodyshots, making you spend about half a magazine on a single enemy. The only upsides of running an SMG is the high ammo pickup, and the high fire rate. Not only the high fire rate lower the impact of high ammo pickup, but provided a team capable of getting kills, instanced ammo makes ammo a complete non-issue. The fact is that only one person has to spend the ammo to kill an enemy to drop ammo for all 4 people on your squad makes high-pickup not that much of a benefit. In the current state of the game, SMGs are currently just worse ARs with already similar and most of the time worse bullets to kill to pistols. To make SMGs balanced, you'd have to either bring them up to parity with ARs, which just makes them clones, which no one really wants, or make them secondaries, which they're nearly already balanced around. Increasing the things that they're already good at, namely ammo pickup, won't change a thing because ammo pickup is already basically a non-issue as is, and picking up 7 bullets vs 15 won't change a thing when you have to expose yourself to deal concentrated damage already with them. I won't touch on the overkill weapons, would like to see more than just the 2, but basically the Heavy GL needs its selfdamage and selfdamage radius reduced so you don't destroy all your armor trying to use it. A small increase in effectiveness in explosion falloff against enemies would also help as I've had scenarios trying for the double kill challenge where I will fire once into a group, and only the direct impacted Swat died while the others just got back up after. Side note: Weapon mods are basically cosmetic or preference at this point. None of the weapon mods really actually matter save for silencers, and extended mag (Someone did a video test of the VF-7S between magazine types, and they're literally a 0.1 second difference between each magazine type. That is, the 30 round extended mag is only 0.3s slower than the 10 round compact mag. Payday 2's speedpulls were far too powerful, but the reload speed mods do nearly nothing in Payday 3 when the difference is basically a rounding error.)

    honestly I hate the armor change, while it didn't mean as much on higher difficulties it was nice having armor that will regenerate once you're back in cover, let you take some risks running for an objective or reviving the random. In payday 3 it feels like way to big a risk to leave cover most of the time once you leave normal difficulty (gonna be honest I kinda just let randoms go into custody so they can come back with armor most of the time)

    i agree man, i love that this game is more like The Heist rather than 2, the former being my personal favorite - no dodge, no stupid akimbo shotguns, no health regen, just grounded heister action personally, i find the pump action shotgun (reinfield i think it's called) to be a little bit weak in terms of feedback, but the rest is great the music is just.. meh, not bad, but not really standing out offtopic: zapper just sounds goofy, bring back the "IT'STHEMUTHAFUCKINTASER"

    This is exactly how I feel about P3. I am a hopeless payday junkie since the beta for 2, so I really have high hopes for it, I hope they can brind the same energy they had in the early 2010’s

    I think payday 3 ruined the jump crouch stealth speedrun mechanic. Also bag throwing is jercky and slow in payday 3. Prefer payday 2 for the fluidity and movement.

    It's a damn PVE game, stop trying to nerf the character when there is no possible positive to it. Taking out Reload Canceling in a non-PVP game is genuinely low IQ and braindead. Why are you punishing players for 0 reason. It doesn't make the game harder just more tedious and annoying. Further proof that it's stupid is that Cod is immediately backtracking on taking out Reload Canceling with them adding it back in in MW3. Same thing with the quick Reload magazine too.

      reload canceling is a powerful mechanic in dsod in the last game, ovk 145+ in the first. i think you just dont know what youre talking abt

    Stealth is very much a personality thing…or you grew up playing metal gear 😂 I play any and every game full stealth, no kills if possible and freaking love that shit. Thinking Mgs, hitman, dishonoured etc. like game choice.

    Idk how people use Hacker, I just die in two shots over and over. I guess dodge doesn't proc for me or something? I last longer with Stoic just because I can heal almost non-stop and it reduces damage by a lot. Stoic can't make rushes though, which is why I really want to make Hacker work, but it just seems to luck based to deal with dodge.

    damn you hated all the fun parts of payday 2 that I loved. I really wanted this game to just be a better looking and more mechanically complex payday 2. I want to chill in an online or offline endless raid grinding loot with infinate generation of all resources, clicking heads and using a ton of cool guns that I min maxed.... with my and my friends super min maxed builds that just barley scrape certain thresholds.

    I'm about 30 hours in and I am really enjoying it. The grind is pretty long, kindah happy theres a glitch to get gun / skill xp atm. I'm trying to get all the achievements now, it's so difficult especially on solo as I got no friends :( I hope they release new maps, theres only a couple I enjoy playing

    For me personally I just wanted PD3 to be like PD2 just with more updated graphics and more QoL. There's a lot of QoL in this game BUT they're missing so many features that PD2 had. I like PD2 because it was fun and could be goofy. It doesn't try to be realistic and I like that. If I wanted a realistic game I'd play like Hell Let Loose or something (totally different game I know). I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with many of your opinions but good video anyways!

      i was the total opposite. i love pd2 but the realism that payday the heist brings is what i truly love and im glad its coming back
